#1 Don’t Run Late
More often than not, you aren’t going to be planning on your wedding running late. But it happens more often than you might think. When things get behind in the wedding, you’re not going to get rid of the first dance or any other traditional piece of the day. Most likely time will be taken away from your couple session. When this happens, we might have to rush or skip it all together. We understand that sometimes these things are out of your control. But we advise that if the wedding gets behind, don’t take that time away from the couple photos. Another consideration is to have a first look. This would allow you to get the photos done and out of the way before the ceremony. Having a first look wont alleviate you from your wedding running late, but there is a better chance that you will get your couple photos. If you’re debating whether or not you want to have a First Look, check out our blog post on it here.
#2 You Must Be Willing to Go Outside
Let’s face it, we live in a very hot and humid state. The last thing you are going to want to do is step outside in your dress; that will make you perspire in 5 minutes or less. The worst feeling is the sticky feeling onset by Florida’s scorching humidity. But fear not, it may be worth it. There are some very good alternatives that we will use to keep you from feeling too hot and still get amazing photos. First of all, we will make sure that you are in the shade as much as possible. It is still going to feel hot, but much cooler than standing in the direct sun. Second of all, the main reason why we prefer outside shoots, is because the light and scenery is usually much better. The minute we step inside, we are limited to blank walls or bad lighting. So the outside light is always more flattering. When you’re looking for a venue to have your wedding at, consider the scenery around it.
#3 Cut Down on the Amount of Family Formal Photos
Do you have a laundry list of family formal photos that you want us to capture? That’s fine if you do, but remember that we will need about 3 minutes per family photo. This is due to the fact that for each picture, we have to round people together or take them away for each picture. We like to do the family formals more simplistically. Our standard layout for the family formals goes as such; Bridesmaids, Groomsman, Bride with parents, Bride with family, Groom with parents, Groom with family, and the Bride and Groom with those previous combinations. So if you have a specific need for more things, we will be more than happy to accommodate that. Just know that if the family formals take too long, we may not have enough time for the couple’s photos. One remedy for this, would be to have a longer cocktail hour and maybe consider having it for an hour and a half instead.
So these are a just a few tips that helps us get the couple’s photos for you in a timely fashion. Stay tuned for next week, as our next topic is going to be about how to make sure that your family is on time for the family formals.
